Out West AI / Photo Saver / Privacy Policy
Photo Saver Privacy Policy
The short version: Photo Saver collects nothing. It has no accounts, no servers of ours, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking of any kind. Your photos are copied from your Mac to the destination you configured, and nowhere else. We never see them, and we cannot — there is nothing of ours in the path.
What the app handles
- Your photos and videos are read from your Photos library and written to the destination you choose. They are staged briefly on your Mac while a transfer is in progress, then deleted once it completes. They are never sent to Out West AI or to any third party.
- Your server credentials — passwords, SSH keys and access keys — are stored only in the macOS Keychain on your device. They are used to sign in to the destination you entered and nothing else.
- Backup settings and progress — the destination address, folder layout, and a record of which files have been copied (used to resume an interrupted backup) are stored locally on your device. That record holds file names, sizes and checksums, not photo contents.
What we collect
Nothing. Photo Saver contains no analytics or telemetry libraries, sets no identifiers, and makes no network connection other than to the backup destination you configure. We cannot see your photos, your server, your credentials, or even whether you use the app.
Network connections
The app connects only to the backup destination you enter — an SFTP server, an S3-compatible endpoint, a WebDAV server, or a network share you have mounted. Connections use TLS or SSH as appropriate to the protocol. If you back up to a local folder or an external drive, the app makes no network connection at all. There are no other requests of any kind.
Photos access
macOS asks for your permission before the app can read your photo library, and you can withdraw it at any time in System Settings › Privacy & Security › Photos. The app reads originals in order to copy them; it never modifies or deletes anything in your library unless you explicitly turn on the optional space-reclaiming feature described below.
Deleting photos from your Mac
Photo Saver includes an optional feature that deletes photos from your Mac once they are safely backed up. It is off by default, runs as a dry run that only reports what it would delete until you turn that off, and only ever considers files it has verified at the destination. Because the Photos library on a Mac signed in to iCloud Photos is your iCloud library, deleting from it also removes the photo from iCloud and from your other devices. The app says so plainly wherever the feature appears.
Crash reports
We do not collect crash reports ourselves. If you have opted in to sharing analytics with Apple, Apple may provide us anonymised crash information under Apple's privacy policy.
Your data, your control
- Credentials live in the Keychain and can be removed there, or by deleting the app.
- Deleting the app removes its settings, its record of what has been backed up, and its Keychain items from your device. Photos already copied to your destination are unaffected — they are ordinary files on your own storage, and remain readable without this app.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be published at this address with a new effective date. Because the app collects nothing, changes are expected to be rare.
